Originally from Portland, Oregon, Dr. Lillian Truong developed a passion for optometry early on as she experienced the world through corrective lenses from a young age. She pursued this passion at Oregon State University, earning an undergraduate degree in BioHealth Sciences, before moving onto graduate with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pacific University College of Optometry.
During her clinical training, Dr. Truong completed an externship at the Eye Center of Hawaii with the mentorship of Dr. Kellen Kashiwa. This experience instilled a deep gratitude in providing eye care and bridging the gap in care for medically underserved communities across neighboring islands.
Dr. Truong is honored to return to the Eye Center of Hawaii as an optometrist. Her personal journey with corrective lenses played a role in displaying just how vital optometric care is. Having gone through ortho-keratology as a child herself, Dr. Truong is well-versed in myopia management as both a patient and a clinician. Her clinical interests include ocular disease and dry eye management and she is dedicated to improving her patients’ vision and quality of life. Dr. Truong also speaks Vietnamese and is always happy to welcome patients who prefer to receive care in the language.
In her free time, Dr. Truong enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, playing pickleball and tennis, and exploring new food.

Surgery is recommended when cataracts begin to interfere with daily life and vision starts affecting things like reading, driving especially at night, or overall clarity even with updated glasses.
